I believe in equity over equality

I think and ponder and wrestle over pricing often. This is a story I hear from a lot of fellow business owners and I’m here to share a little behind the scenes as to why I offer my soul work the way that I do.

I believe in equity over equality. I believe that we all have our own life circumstances, that can shift in the blink of an eye. And I do not believe that those circumstances should automatically disqualify us from receiving the support we so long to receive. That we need to receive.

And…

I don’t believe in the broke creative, solopreneur, space holder story that runs rampant throughout many online circles. I don’t believe in “charging your worth” or wrapping my identity in how much I do or do not charge. In the 4+ years I’ve been in business I’ve increased and decreased my prices multiple times, and will continue to do so.

I also feel so drawn to flexible and sovereign pricing options. A space where you are given the choice to choose, in your integrity, where you find yourself financially and where you feel like you land when you come into my space and choose to invest in a working partnership.

I recently signed up for a course that could have been $10,000+ and was offered just under $2k, and it offered multiple tiers of equitable pricing under that range. I have done something similar over the years, on a small scale, and I am finding I keep coming back to this model.

I don’t know your life circumstances. I don’t what you have the time or financial capacity for. I don’t know what is truly in alignment and integrity for you and your current life circumstances. I have had times of having more than enough and feeling the deepest joy in giving above and beyond to those I long to support. I have found myself wondering how I will pay for rent and groceries and my basic needs and have been so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to receive the generosity of choosing a lower price option that allows me to receive support while being financially responsible. And I have had times where I am able to meet my needs, and have just enough to meet that middle price point that is a slight stretch but doesn’t throw my nervous system into freak out mode.

I believe in providing folks (like you!) choice. I believe that we all deserve choice. And I believe in not giving away my soul work because I am afraid that no one will be able to afford it. I don’t want to perpetuate the narrative that we cannot afford things. That keeps us small and living in fear rather than inviting us into our stretch towards greater abundance.
